A dog is credited with alerting neighbors of a house fire early Wednesday near Yukon, Okla.
A neighbor said her dog started barking and woke her up shortly after a fire sparked at a home on Loch Lane, near Reno Avenue and Czech Hall Road. The homeowner then called emergency crews about the blaze.
When firefighters arrived, they found large flames coming from the roof, officials said.
"She is the hero of this story," neighbor Kelly Bryant said. "If she had not woke me up on the bed, there is no telling how far it could have spread or more lives lost."
No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, but fire officials said the house is considered to be a total loss. Investigators are working to determine what caused the fire.
