Collette has launched a new line of exploration tours that may very well redefine standard notions of what a tour experience involves.
The newest product line from North America’s longest running tour operator, “Explorations” tours, will average just 15 guests, allowing for visiting exclusive areas where larger groups are prohibited.
What’s more, the itineraries will focus on hyper-local experiences, culturally reflective accommodations and enhanced culinary offerings, the company said in a recent statement.
[post_ads]Guests on the trips will also be given the option for abundant leisure time, so that travelers have the freedom to explore entirely on their own, but with the added benefit of having a tour manager by their side. This last detail is a particularly notable development as historically, tours have had a reputation for their packed schedules and herding travelers quickly from one place to another.
“Innovation has always been central to what we do at Collette, and we’re so excited to offer the new Explorations line,” Collette CEO Dan Sullivan said. “Whether it’s hunting for truffles in southern France, a home-hosted meal in Morocco, or an overnight in a glass igloo northern Finland, our guests can now connect to destinations in an entirely different way.”
The new Explorations tours will visit such places as Morocco, Vietnam, Finland, Italy, Southern France, Africa and more. About 13 Explorations itineraries have been announced by the company.
The 11-day Morocco tour, which starts at $2,399 per person, includes such experiences as lunch and tea with a local family and an opportunity to learn how to make madfouna, a bread that is stuffed with potato, meat, onion and Moroccan spices.
While on the Taste of Vietnam, journey participants visit a local home where coconut candy is made and overnight on a luxury junk boat in Halong Bay.
On the Discover Colombia trip, there will be traditional cooking workshops and private salsa lessons. Still, other Explorations tours take travelers to see the novelties of Northern Spain and explore the cultures of Peru and Bolivia.
