Middle Schooler Starts Doll Company To Empower Young Girls To Embrace Their Beauty

11-year-old Zoe Terry is already an inspiring entrepreneur. The young CEO says she was bullied in kindergarten for having different hair and darker colored skin than her classmates.

Today was beyond unbelievable! We kicked off our Black History Month Doll Giveaways. We started it in a BIG way! Good Morning America has came to film the Zoe’s Dolls Movement. It started out at my school where they filmed me going to class and hanging with some of my friends. They also filmed the awesome Karen Davis Athanassiadis and all the work she has done with me. Next stop was off to the doll giveaway with Me and my girls Essence and Zion to bring smiles to some girls’ faces! I will be in the studio live with Good Morning America in NY this month! So she started Zoe’s Dolls to help girls of color feel beautiful. The company collects dolls to donate to girls in need all around the world. The toys have reached more than 10,000 girls across the United States and as far as Haiti and Africa.

For her work in empowering girls to feel beautiful, Zoe recently became the youngest award-winner of Nickelodeon’s “Helping and Leading Others” honor. She received $30,000 to donate more dolls and a trademark.

But what’s most important to Zoe is making a mark on her peers and teaching all girls of color to embrace their inner and outer beauty.
