Remember the C-X75? It could've been Jaguar's modern hybrid supercar. Unfortunately, Jaguar decided against putting the C-X75 into production, instead turning its focus on building electric cars like the I-Pace. But it did build a few prototypes, as well as a handful of stunt cars for the James Bond film Spectre. This car, chassis 001, popped up for sale at English dealer Kaaimans International earlier this year, and is now headed to RM Sotheby's Abu Dhabi auction next month.
Of the six cars made for the film, four were stunt vehicles built by Williams Advanced Engineering. Williams created a tubular space frame chassis for this car, and overlaid C-X75 body panels. Because it's a stunt car, the interior isn't production-ready, but it's not some hacked together job, either. Inside it looks like a stripped out race car, which is just fine by us. Note the hydraulic handbrake, too.
The production C-X75 was intended to get a turbo- and supercharged inline-four cylinder and two electric motors. The Spectre C-X75s used a dry-sumped version of the Jaguar F-Type's 5.0-liter supercharged V8, though. Horsepower isn't stated, but we can imagine it's pretty quick.
Evidently, this car is in the best condition of any of the Spectre C-X75s as it was used to film actor close-ups. A stunt driver piloted a car from a special rig on the roof, while a camera was mounted to the front, pointing at the cockpit. That's likely why this one has holes near the front bumper.
If you've always wanted to own a C-X75, but didn't think you could because Jaguar never actually put it into production, this might be your only chance.
