You’re not likely to find another build like this!
In the 1960s, the Chevy Nova, or Chevy II, was a car on the smaller side, before it got substantially larger and started hanging out with the muscle car crowd in the 1970s. Even though it wasn’t one of the big boat cars from GM of the 60s, it was definitely one of the coolest out there, and that might be even more true now that people have gotten creative with fabrication and restoration builds. Now, you might be thinking that we’re about to introduce you to a restomod, and sure those are usually interesting builds, this particular 1963 Nova is not your ‘typical’ restoration build.
By this point in the article, you’re probably ready to tell us we’re off on the year, that’s no 1963 Chevy II, but it is, or at least part of it is. What you’re looking at is indeed a 1963…platform, with a 1966 Chevy Nova convertible built around it.
The amount of work that has gone into this car, to get everything exactly how it should be, was quite extensive. Atop the 1963 Chevy II frame is a firewall, front clip, cowling, dash, and rear clip that was borrowed from a 1966. Making this all fit required considerable bodywork, and the finished product reflects the level of top notch professionalism and skill that went into the Nova.
Powering the build is a 350 cubic-inch, equipped with aluminum heads, and a ceramic dual exhaust system that sweeps the exhaust away from the engines and through the pipes to produce a mean growl. Backing the engine is a four-speed manual transmission that feeds into a beefy 12-bolt Moser posi-trac rear with 3.42:1 gears - meaning, the acceleration will be swift, without ruining the crushing characteristics on the highway.
The inside has also undergone a makeover to include new upholstery, a new convertible top, new carpet, and new door panels. Detailing on the gauges and dash finish off the interior to make everything look show ready.
This vehicle is part of the Vault's Classic Car Christmas Auction; an online auction with over 100 collector cars and motorcycles. The lots are open for bidding and will close on December 5th. Click here to learn more about bidding.
